Belenus was a Celtic deity concerned with light solar worship and healing. Belenus was worshiped from prehistoric times to about 400AD though he was worshipped after that in parts. Belenus is seen to one of the oldest Celtic gods known. Belenus has a festival on the first of May, which was seen to be the start of the warm season. One of the activities that took place was driving cattle through huge bonfires as to protect them against disease.
