Balor is the god of death, a giant and the king of the Fomarians. The Fomarians were a race of giants. Balor was the son of Buarianech, he was married to Cethlenn. Balor only had one eye, which Balor had to keep closed because anything he looked at would die instantly. Balor was killed in battle, after killing King Nauda of Tuatha De Danann, using a glance from his eye. As Balor looked at the King his eye was ripped out by his grandson Lugh who had been brought up by the Tuatha De Danann.
